A sad news is coming out from the music world recently. Legendary music maestro Ustad Rashid Khan passed away Today on 9th january 2024. He took last breath at the age of 55. Ustad Rashid Khan was suffering from prostate cancer, for which he was undergoing treatment at a Hospital in Kolkata. He was on ventilator and oxygen support. Despite all the efforts of the doctors, they could not be saved him.
A doctor of the hospital where Ustad Rashid Khan was undergoing treatment said, ‘We tried hard, but failed. He died around 3:45 pm. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed grief over the death of Ustad Rashid Khan. He said, ‘This is a great loss for the entire country and the entire music world. I am very sad. I still can’t believe Rashid Khan is gone.
Ustad Rashid Khan’s health deteriorated after suffering a stroke last month. He was initially treated at Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital. Then later he chose to continue his treatment in a hospital in Kolkata. According to close sources, his condition was improving after being admitted to a private hospital last month.
Rashid Khan was a singer of Ustad Rampur-Sahswan Gharana. He gave his first stage performance at the age of 11.
