Guru Nanak Jahaz narrates the harrowing journey of 376 Indian passengers aboard the Japanese steamship Komagata Maru, who set sail to Canada seeking better opportunities. Upon arrival in Vancouver, they faced discriminatory immigration laws that denied them entry, forcing the ship to return to India after two months of legal battles and protests. The film encapsulates this struggle, highlighting the racial prejudices and immigration policies of the time, symbolizing a broader fight for equality and justice .


Stellar Cast and Crew

Leading the cast is Tarsem Jassar, portraying Mewa Singh Lopoke, a figure inspired by revolutionary ideals amidst systemic racism in Canada. Alongside him, Gurpreet Ghuggi delivers a compelling performance as Baba Gurdit Singh, the visionary Sikh merchant who orchestrated the voyage. The film also features American actors Edward Sonnenblick and Mark Bennington, adding depth to the portrayal of colonial officers .
