Asit Modi, the producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma, has been embroiled in controversy ever since Jennifer Mistry accused him of sexual harassment a month ago. Mumbai Police has filed a case against producer Asit Kumar Modi, operation head Sohail Ramani, and executive producer Jatin Bajaj based on the actor’s accusation.
They have filed a First Information Report (FIR) in accordance with Indian Penal Code sections 354 and 509 (Assault or criminal force against a lady with the purpose to outrage her modesty). However, the police have not yet made any arrests.
As per the Mumbai Police, “Powai Police recorded the statement of the actor in connection with her sexual harassment allegations against Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s producer Asit Kumarr Modi and two other members of the crew. Asit Kumarr Modi will also be interviewed by the police soon for his statement. As of right now, Asit Kumar Modi has refuted every accusation. Sohail and Jatin have also rejected the contentions.
Asit Modi in a statement said that “We will take legal action as she is trying to defame me and the show both. Since we terminated her services, she is making these baseless allegations”.
The actor took it to the Instagram and other social media platforms and hinted about this issue six weeks ago.
